§ 1
1. This document stipulates the procedures pertaining to:
1) the students of doctoral studies, provided by the faculties, conducted in Polish as well as those PhD students of inter-faculty doctoral studies conducted in English, who initiated doctoral dissertations prior to 30 April 2019;
2) the procedures aimed at granting a doctor’s degree on individual basis to persons who initiated doctoral dissertation pursuant to the regulations stipulated by the Act of 14 March 2003 on academic degrees and the academic title as well as the degrees and title in the area of art (Journal of Laws of 2017 point 1789 with the subsequent amendments) the Ordinance of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of 19 January 2018 on the detailed mode and procedures for the doctoral dissertation, habilitation and granting the title of a professor (Journal of Laws of 2018 point 261), in force for the day of initiating doctoral dissertation procedure;
3) doctoral students of faculty doctoral studies conducted in Polish as well as inter-faculty doctoral studies conducted in English, for those students who did not initiate doctoral dissertation procedures prior to 30 April 2019.
§2
1. Doctoral dissertation procedures initiated for students of faculty doctoral studies conducted in Polish as well as inter-faculty doctoral studies conducted in English, and also on individual basis prior to 30 April 2019, shall be conducted pursuant to the principles stipulated by § 1 point 2).
2. Procedures within the proceedings in the competence of faculty boards shall be conducted by the scientific discipline board which is proper in view of the discipline dealt with by the dissertation.
Doctoral dissertation proceedings which shall not conclude prior to 31 December 2021 will be terminated.
§3
1. The procedures for granting a doctor’s degree pertaining to the students of faculty doctoral studies conducted in Polish, and inter-faculty doctoral studies conducted in English who did not initiate doctoral dissertation proceedings prior to 30 April 2019, shall comply with the principles stipulated by the Act of 20 July 2018, Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2020 point 85).
2. Prerequisites for earning a doctor’s degree are stipulated by §3 and §4 section1 point b-q of the Regulations for earning a doctor’s degree by the extra-mural mode at Cracow University of Economics (Enclosure to the Act of Senate nr 46/2019 of 8 July 2019).
3. In the procedures applicable to granting a doctor’s degree initiated from 1 October 2019 to 31 December 2020, the following items shall be considered as an obligatory part contribution to academic achievements :
1) Scientific papers published prior to 1 January 2019 in a journal not included in the new minister’s listing, yet quoted in Part A or C of the list of scientific journals announced by the minister’s communication of 25 January 2017, or included in Part B therein, with the proviso that the papers published there were awarded at least 10 points;
2) Monographs published by the organizational entity of the candidate, whose publishing house is listed in the minister’s communication of 18 January 2019 on the list of publishing houses entitled to publish reviewed scientific monographs.
4. Implementation of the conditions prerequisite for earning a doctor’s degree is described in § 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the Regulations for earning a doctor’s degree in the extra-mural mode at CUE.
The candidates who have prepared a draft of the doctoral dissertation in the form of an individual research plan within the framework of co-operation with their tutor, may submit an application which stipulates:
1) Exemption from the obligatory submission of the initial concept of the doctoral dissertation
2) An opinion on the individual research plan formulated by the Scientific Board of the Doctoral School as well as forwarding to a proper scientific discipline board an application to appoint a supervisor, adopt an individual research plan, accept the subject of the dissertation, designate two subjects covered by the doctoral examination (the subject consistent with the discipline of the dissertation and an additional discipline subject).
§4
1. The administrative and organizational support for all doctoral students stipulated by §1 shall be provided by the Center for Doctoral Education and Proceedings.
2. The scope of administrative and organizational support provided by the Center for Doctoral Education and Proceedings is stipulated by the Rector’s Ordinance on the establishment of CUE Doctoral School and the Regulations for earning a doctor’s degree in the extramural mode at CUE.
